BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The son of a Glynn County woman who disappeared nearly a month ago is now charged with her murder.
Investigators believe John Rosevelt, 49, killed his mother and then tried to cover it up. The body of 72-year-old Linda Mansfield is still missing.
“Let your mom have rest, you know, let your family have rest. It’s not fair,” neighbor Amanda Clark said.
Neighbors want to know where Mansfield is. Her son is accused of killing her.
According to this indictment, sometime between May 13 and 23 is when Rosevelt killed his mother. It says, “He hit and struck her with the intent to commit murder.”
Investigators say Rosevelt tried to cover it up by cleaning up blood and other bodily fluids from Mansfield’s home. He’s also accused of hiding her body.
“Tell us where she is, so we can lay her to rest,” neighbor Carol Easterly said.
The indictment said he forged and cashed several checks in his mother’s name and stole her car.
Rosevelt has been in jail at least five other times for burglary and theft. Neighbors say he had his problems, but find it hard to believe he could kill.
“He never struck me as that type of person,” Easterly said.
And they want him to know ...
“I’m praying for you. I don’t know what happened, but there’s got be an ounce of some type of love in you to let your mother be at rest,” Clark said.
