St. Johns County home invasion suspect captured in Jacksonville after police chase

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A police chase Thursday morning ended with the arrest of a St. Johns County home invasion suspect in the San Marco area of Jacksonville.

St. Johns County deputies said 30-year-old Brandon Lee Dailey was arrested at the end of the chase.

Dailey and Colby Clifton, 22, are suspects in a violent home invasion in St. Johns County in March.

The chase for Dailey ended on Atlantic Boulevard in San Marco.

The vehicle that Dailey drove during the chase was reportedly stolen. The owner of the vehicle told Action News Jax that he drove her car, parked it in the area and ran inside a three-story building, where he was caught by police.

“I blasted it all over social media that my car has been stolen and whatever items were stolen as well,” said Kristen Leslie. “I put on social media that my temp tag was in the left back window and I blasted it to try and pinpoint (the thied). I posted his picture, everything to try (catch) him and my car.”

Police said Dailey was involved in a St. Johns County home invasion on March 18 in which where he and Clifton robbed two men.

One of the victims was hit in the head with a firearm by one suspect, deputies said. The victim was treated and released.

Deputies said the 2009 Nissan Altima that was used in the home invasion was found 10 days later in West Virginia by the West Virginia Highway Patrol. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Duval County on March 9.

SJSO said evidence of the home invasion was found in the vehicle, which led to them identifying the men.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office located and captured Dailey.

Clifton was arrested nearly a month ago. He is charged with two counts of burglary with an assault or battery and home invasion robbery with a firearm. He is being held on a $900,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
