St. Johns Riverkeeper's 'Troubled Waters' documentary to show how pollution can threaten the river

The St. Johns Riverkeeper is making a new push to protect Northeast Florida's main waterway.

The Riverkeeper is set to premiere a documentary on the big screen called “Troubled Waters” about the pollution problems that threaten the future of the St. Johns and Florida’s waterways and how people can be part of the solution.

The screening will take place March 23 at Sun Ray Cinema in Five Points. Riverkeeper Lisa Rinaman said it’s critical to act now by petitioning lawmakers, among other actions, because the health of the river is at stake.

“Right now, you can legally dump toxins in our waterways. The state has decided to increase the amount of toxic carcinogens that can be legally dumped. We believe that puts all Floridians at risk,” Rinaman said.
