JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Health inspectors this week saw live and dead roaches in a popular St. Johns Town Center restaurant.
A health inspector found 20 live roaches in the oven at Mimi's Café. There were also live flies in the dish area and the inspector found a temperature violation for bacon. The restaurant was temporarily shut down, but was allowed to reopen after a clean follow-up inspection.
An inspector counted 45 rodent droppings at Casa Maria Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach. The inspector issued a stop sale on 11 items, including beef and chicken, and nine food items held too warm, including pico de gallo and tomatoes. Casa Maria was temporarily closed but was allowed to reopen the next day after a clean follow-up inspection.
An inspector saw five live roaches near a grill at Wing Depot on University Boulevard, dead roaches and expired food in the cooler. It was also temporarily closed.
