2 adults, 4 children rescued in Atlantic Boulevard apartment fire

Two adults and four kids are without a home after an early morning fire at the Whispering Oaks Apartments on Atlantic Boulevard Tuesday.

Firefighters were called out to Whispering Oaks Apartments on Atlantic Boulevard just before 9:00 a.m. for smoke coming out one of the units.

Elaine has lived in the complex for four years and she was at home around 8:30 a.m. when she heard the fire truck sirens racing down her street.

“And I saw all this flame coming up two apartments down to the bottom and then some on the top,” she said.

Elain says she ran outside and started recording video of the fire on her phone.

Although it’s a little shaky you can see the dark gray smoke coming out of the window on the bottom floor right in front of a playground.

JFRD pulled two adults and four children out of the apartment.

Unfortunately they were unable to save the family’s pet bunny in the early morning fire.

“It’s  just scary cause I don’t want that happening to me and I don’t want that to happen to nobody,” said Elaine.

Red cross has been called out to help those who were displaced by Tuesday’s fire.

JFRD tells us the fire is under investigation.
