Vacant Jacksonville home destroyed by fireworks

Fireworks burned a south side Jacksonville home to the ground Tuesday night on St. Augustine Road and Morton Street Tuesday night.
Wednesday morning, the man who lit the firework spoke to Action News Jax.
“We were just out fooling around with some fireworks like everything else in town was doing,” Bob Grenadier told Action News Jax. “Shot off a bottle rocket it went askew through a window and the next thing you know the whole building was going up.”
Grenadier says he was going to use a hose to extinguish the fire but the flames were too big.
“They were way up over the top of the tree,” said Grenadier

Firefighters say no one was injured, and Grenadier tells us the house was vacant.

“I advised firefighters not to go into the building. When they got here they were going to go in. I said there’s no way you’re going to go in that building. It's way too dangerous.”
With the flames extinguished, Grenadier says he’s thankful no one was hurt.
Grenadier tells us he learned an important message from this – he says he’ll be very careful with fireworks in the future and only light them in open areas.
