SUV found in deadly shooting; Jacksonville police asking for witnesses to come forward

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville police said officers found a vehicle connected to a deadly shooting.

Police are searching for two persons of interest after a young man died Wednesday night after being shot several times in Hyde Park. Officers later found the green Toyota 4Runner-type vehicle in connection with the deadly shooting.

It is not known where the vehicle was found.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said two unknown men pulled up next to the victim's car and started shooting into the car on Jammes Road.

Police were told that the victim, who is believed to be in his early 20s, was being taken to the hospital by an acquaintance. The two made it to a nearby store on San Juan Avenue, where they were trying to get help.

Police and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department went to that store to help the victim, who was taken to UF Health Jacksonville and later died.

Police are aware of several witnesses who saw the shooting and are asking for witnesses to contact police.
