Woman arrested in string of thefts in three Florida counties

A woman sought on suspicion of theft in three Florida counties was arrested Sunday, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said.

Brenda Lynn Cranford was arrested after she stole a purse from another woman at a store.

Surveillance video captured Cranford swiping a cart from the victim, who had her back turned at the time of the theft.

The victim's purse had cash, a smartphone, her ID and several bank cards in it.

The Sheriff's Office said Cranford was suspected in seven similar theft cases in St. Johns, Putnam and Flagler counties.
