Foster Farms recalls chicken nuggets

Poultry company Foster Farms is recalling its frozen chicken nuggets.

The company said consumer feedback led it to discover the issue with the product leading to the recall.

The recall, announced Friday, is because of the possibility of rubber fragments and plastic in the nuggets, which could cause a choking hazard.

"This recall only involves Foster Farms Frozen Cooked Chicken Breast Nuggets sold in 5-lb. club sized bags at select West Coast Costco locations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and as 10-lbs. bulk boxes to non-retail wholesale distributors in California and Arizona," the recall notice said.

The company said the recall only involves the following:

  • 5-pound retail bags listing plant code P-33901 and "best by" date of 2-21-17

  • 5-pound retail bags listing plant code P-33901 and "best by" date of 3-8-17

  • 10-pound wholesale boxes listing plant code P-33901 and Julian date 6053

  • 10-pound wholesale boxes listing plant code P-33901 and Julian date 6068

The company said no injuries have been reported and no other products are involved in the recall.

Foster Farms said the product should be thrown out or returned to where it was purchased for a full refund.

The company said the issue comes from "one specific production line at the (Farmerville, Louisiana,) facility."
