Two abandoned puppies found along I-10

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — Two abandoned, malnourished puppies were rescued from Interstate 10 near Macclenny Wednesday morning.

A Clay County Humane Society employee saw the puppies while driving on the highway and rescued them.

Three puppies were apparently abandoned on the highway with only a coffee can filled with water. Sadly, a third puppy was hit by a car before the rescuer arrived.

The Humane Society is asking for donations to help the two sick hound mixes recover from demodex and malnutrition. Demodex is caused by mites and causes dogs to lose large patches of fur.

Staff at the humane society named the two puppies rescued Dodger and Scout. They are about 15 or 16 weeks old.
