GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Bad weather, including lightning and rain in the area, forced the Florida Gators football game to be delayed on Saturday night. The deteriorating field conditions led to the decision to ultimately cancel the game.
Initially, Florida's season opener against Idaho was delayed until 7:30 p.m. Then, the earliest the game was expected to start was 9:50 p.m., according to Gator Zone News.
The debut of Kurt Roper and the new Florida offense will have to wait. The rescheduling of the season opener is still in question.
The Gators were 35-point favorites against the Vandals from Idaho.
