The Atlantic Basin is quiet.....

An upper level trough has evolved - pretty much as expected - over the Eastern U.S. & will slowly lift north & northeast while weakening.  A complex of t'storms has developed & some semblance of surface low pressure might try to develop near the Gulf Coast or the Northern/NE Gulf of Mexico - bears watching though nothing of immediate concern.

Mid & upper level wind shear (enemy of tropical cyclones) analysis (CIMMS). The red lines indicate strong shear......

Deep oceanic heat content is much more noticeable in the Caribbean/SW Atlantic & Gulf of Mexico as we head toward August.....

Sea surface temp. anomalies are below avg. across much of the middle of the Atlantic with unseasonably cool temps. off the coast of Africa....
