Missing baby and man found safe, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 7:31 a.m.- Armoni Francis and Kondwani Thomas have been found safe, according to JSO’s official Twitter page.

UPDATE 5:32 a.m.- FDLE has activated a missing child alert for Armoni Francis out of Duval County. JSO also just told Action News Jax that Kondwani Thomas is not related to the child, but he knew Armoni’s family in some way.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is in the midst of a search for a newborn baby boy on Jacksonville’s Westside.

According to police, officers responded to the complaint prior to 11 p.m. Wednesday. The complaint stated that the infant, Armoni Francis, was last seen in the custody of Kondwani Thomas at a home on West 14th Street. Both were last seen leaving the home on foot in an unknown direction.

Thomas is said to be carrying a blue and black backpack-style diaper bag. JSO is trying to locate the pair in an effort to determine their safety following the circumstances of their disappearance.

Baby Armoni is a 6-weeks-old baby boy of African American descent. He is described as having brown eyes with black hair. What he is wearing is unknown.

Thomas is a 43-year-old man of African American descent. He is described as having brown eyes and a short, natural afro. He stands at 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. Police believe he is wearing a black shirt, black pants and white shoes.

Anyone having seen or who knows the whereabouts of Armoni or Thomas is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or 911 immediately.
