The Brunswick Police Department has opened a death investigation after witnesses reported a car landing in a river.
According to BPD, witnesses saw a car speeding down North Street, crashing into a railing and landing in a river near the Brunswick Landing Marina.
The BPD along with Brunswick Fire Department and other agencies attempted to rescue the person trapped in the vehicle, but were unsuccessful.
According to BPD, the vehicle was recovered from the river.
BPD said there are multiple agencies involved in the investigation.
