None — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- I've had people call me with great sadness and frustration after a loved one has passed away. That's because they can't get any control of that loved ones digital life.
They maybe want to post on their Facebook page that their brother or sister, mother, or father has passed away. But they can't do it! Their email accounts also just go off into oblivion.
The industry has failed to deal with the fact that someday we're not going to be here, but our digital presence can live on.
Until now. Google has done something I hink is really, really thoughtful. They have something called, not a good name, an inactive account manager.
It allows you to set up a thing where someone takes over my account. I'm giving advance permission for my account to be taken over by someone else at the time Im no longer here.
The rest of the Internet world needs to catch up. Go check out the Google thing if you use Google.
