JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Families are left with questions after a man was found dead inside a Mandarin apartment Sunday.

Action News Jax saw detectives and a medical examiner’s car at the Waterford apartments off San Jose Boulevard.

JSO said someone called 911 to report shots fired at the apartments at 2:15 a.m. but police didn’t find anyone hurt.

Another call came in 35 minutes later. Officers found a man dead inside an apartment. They haven't said how he was killed.

A second police investigation was already underway in Jacksonville. Action News Jax saw an SUV riddled with bullet holes parked at the Daily's gas station at Beach and University Boulevard.

JSO has not released information about who was shot.

FDLE released data this month that shows crime is down 6 percent statewide for the first six months of 2019.

In Duval County, murders and assaults increased. From January to June, Duval saw 62 murders, six more than the same time the previous year.

There has now been more than 120 murders in Jacksonville in 2019, according to JSO’s transparency website.
