JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public Schools has plans to bring on vaccination clinics and COVID-19 tests for students and staff, a board member said Wednesday.

Miranda made it clear she does not believe tests should be required; she feels people should make their own choices.
In it, she said, “In addition to many other mitigation measures, DCPS will host several vaccination clinics over the next month, rapid pcr testing will be available to students and staff, and the matrix for contact tracing, quarantine, and classroom/school closure developed in partnership with our local DOH will remain in place.” Andi Miranda is a mom of three.
She’s all about offering COVID-19 testing.”I personally think that offering the testing is beneficial because it’s hard to find testing these days,” Miranda said.
Action News Jax reached out to other school districts in our area to find out of they plan on providing COVID tests.
St. Johns County School District got back to us saying it has not plans to test for COVID.
”[Tests] make it easier to keep people safe, their families safe, other families safe, the school environment, the staff,” Miranda added.
Like many, Miranda just wants the pandemic to be over.
A district spokesperson for DCPS says the district plans to offer COVID vaccination clinics at all secondary schools starting August 18th.
The clinics will be managed by the Department of Health, the district says, and will offer the Pfizer vaccine.
