Five things to know about Jason Myers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have been around for two decades, and for half of that time, they had the same kicker.

Josh Scobee is headed to Pittsburgh after 10 remarkable seasons as the most important part of Jacksonville special teams. His replacement? An untested 24-year-old named Jason Myers.

Here's what we know about the Jaguars' new kicker:

1. He's a native of Chula Vista, Calif, outside San Diego. He was a four-year starter for tiny Marist College in New York.
2. He's only the second player ever to reach the NFL from Marist. The other? Current Miami Dolphins defensive end Terrance Fede.
3. He kicked for the San Jose Sabercats in 2014 — the same team that just defeated the Jacksonville Sharks for the Arena Bowl title.
4. Can also serve as a punter if needed — he did double duty while at Marist.
5.  He kicked a 55-yard field goal in Week 2 of the preseason vs. the New York Giants and was 4-for-5 overall.
