CVS announced that teachers of any age can get the COVID-19 vaccination at its pharmacies.
The company said Florida is one of 17 states where teachers will be able to get a shot from them.
CVS pharmacies in Daytona Beach and Palm Coast are offering the vaccines to all teachers, which goes against Gov. Ron DeSantis’ executive order saying only teachers 50 and older are eligible for a shot.
CVS released the following statement:

“We’ve aligned with updated federal retail pharmacy program guidelines by making appointments available to teachers in all 17 states where we currently offer COVID-19 vaccines.”

Appointments are booked at all Central Florida CVS locations as of Thursday.
Also as of Thursday, no Jacksonville-area or Southeast Georgia locations were offering the vaccine.
As for the other pharmacies offering the vaccine, Publix said it will follow the executive order issued by the state, Winn-Dixie said it would consult with the state of Florida and the Florida Department of Health, and Walmart didn’t clarify who had the final say over this but it said it would make an necessary changes as quickly as possible.
