Jacksonville’s Donna Marathon goes virtual

Jacksonville, FL — Another large local event will be virtual this year.

The Donna Marathon kicks off Feb. 6 and runs through Feb. 14.  This year, runners can do their 26.2 wherever and whenever they like and submit their times online.

Money raised by the event helps provide financial assistance for breast cancer survivors and breast cancer research.

Since the pandemic hit, Donna Deegan, founder of The Donna Foundation, said those survivors need help now more than ever. “We cannot allow people to fall through the cracks. We can’t allow them to be so stressed out that they can’t get healthy. So I’m a firm believer that if we can help people focus on getting better instead of worrying about shoving bills in the drawer, that they’ll be a whole lot healthier and better off. So I’m more motivated now than I ever have been given the need.”
