JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Food trucks now a have permanent lunch spot.

Anthony Hashem, the owner of the Happy Grilled Cheese Food Truck, opened the Jax Food Truck Food Court Monday.

The food court will host three to five food trucks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

The court has indoor climate-controlled seating with WiFi, as well as outdoor seating.

Hashem said the lot, which is located right next to Kuhn Flowers, has been in his family for over 50 years.

“It was up for sale. My folks just recently retired.  It was a cool opportunity to put my folks back into work and keep the property around for another generation,” Hashem said.

Hashem said the food court will offer something new and fresh to Jacksonville foodies, while solving traditional food truck problems like no Internet connection and no indoor seating.

Hashem said the grand opening means progress for the growing food truck community.

“I call it the food truck fraternity. It’s very tight knit.”

He continued, “Three years ago, food trucks were completely illegal in town, so it's true small business in action. We’ve all left other jobs to come do this.”

People were waiting for the Food Truck Food Court to open before the 11 a.m. kick-off time.
