Kraft Foods Groups is voluntarily recalling nearly 8,000 cases of its single-slice American cheese.

The food giant says it's because a supplier did not store an ingredient at the correct temperature. As a result, some of the cheese may spoil and make the consumer sick.

The affected cheese slices have a “best when used by date” of February 20, 2015, and February 21, 2015.

Kraft officials said the recalled cheese should be returned to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or refund.
