Man has life-threatening injuries in accidental shooting at St. Augustine gun range

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A man has life-threatening injuries after an accidental shooting at a gun range in St. Augustine, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

The incident happened at the Ancient City Shooting Range on Range Drive and the 911 call came in just before noon on Friday.

The man shot was identified as 62-year-old Aaron Acklan of Darien, Ga., by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. Acklan was shot in the upper leg/lower abdomen while reportedly behind a target, SJCFR said on its Facebook page.

Acklan was transported by air to UF Health Jacksonville, where he is listed in stable condition.

SJSO's Major Crimes Unit is investigating, but the shooting appears at this time to be accidental.
