FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — Workers at Cats Angels Thrift Store got an unusual donation this week: a picture of a baby.

“I was worried that someone had donated it in error, which has happened In the past with recipe books and jewelry, and we try to get those things back to people,” said Nancy Douglas.

Douglas said she turned the picture over and there were two things on the back, a name, "Susanne Mary Humphries," and a date, "1916."

“The name Humphries is a very old name in Fernandina. Our first hospital was name after Dr. Humphries,” said Douglas.

After she got the picture, she posted on social media and someone contacted her, saying they may be able to help.

“A local genealogist on Facebook actually did research and did find a connection, so we have a starting point,” said Douglas.

Douglas said the woman may have traced the name to the Sarasota area.

She also said she and the baby in the picture share something in common: Susanne is her middle name.

She said she felt a connection to the photo and is hoping to find the family and return his small piece of lost family history.
