JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED 3:09 p.m.- The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported at 7:15 p.m. that an autistic 11-year-old has drowned at 1275 Dunn Avenue.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., patrol officers responded and were met by members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, who performed CPR on the child. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
There is a small fence between the pool and the park, and at this time it is unknown how the child got into the pool. Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage and are requesting those who live in the area to provide security footage to help the case.
JSO said the child was found unconscious in a pool after playing in the park behind the pool area with family members.

Police have been told that the child had autism.
For kids between one and fourteen, it is the second-leading cause of unintended death, with car crashes taking first place.
