23 people apply to temporarily replace suspended Jacksonville council members

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Twenty-three people have applied to temporarily replace suspended City of Jacksonville council members Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown, Action News Jax has learned.

This comes after the two City Council members were indicted on money laundering and fraud charges.

Action News Jax broke the news of Katrina Brown's and Reggie Brown's 38-count indictment on May 31.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott suspended Jacksonville City Council members Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown from office on Friday.

The list of people who have applied to replace Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown includes a City of Jacksonville employee and a bank vice president.

Gov. Scott's office confirms list of replacement candidates for indicted council members includes:

  • Brenda Priestly Jackson, attorney and former Duval County School Board member
  • Ju'coby Pittman, CEO of the Clara White Mission
  • Angela Nixon, founder of The Moxie Group

Several of the applicants are business owners and another formerly worked for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Other applicants include:

  • Jean Tranquille
  • Randolph Hall
  • Charles Barr
  • James Greiner

  • Niki Brunson
  • Ralph Chavers
  • Cornelius Cox
  • Theresa Graham
  • King Holzendorf

Gov. Scott's office said it is still accepting applications and has not set a deadline. Whoever is chosen will hold the seat until the end of their terms, which is July 1, 2019.
