3 hurt in ATV accident at Hog Waller Mud Bog in Palatka

PALATKA, Fla. — Three people were hurt in an ATV crash at Palatka’s Hog Waller Mud Bog over the weekend.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, an ATV with three people on board was speeding on a dirt trail when the driver attempted to make a sharp U-turn to the left, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Troopers say one of the passengers, a 27-year-old woman from Orlando, was ejected from the ATV and suffered serious injuries. She was life-flighted to a nearby hospital.

There are about 650 deaths and over 100,000 injuries every year involving ATVs, according to an Annual Report. Approximately 1/3 of the people killed in fatal accidents each year are under the age of 16.

The driver and second passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
