ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The Sunglass Hut in St. Augustine was burglarized over the weekend.

St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies say that $50,000 worth of sunglasses were taken Sunday.

"There was damage done inside the store, so were looking to see if we can capture images to find out who they are," said Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan.

Shopper Elizabeth Gonzales said she shops at the outlets often, and is surprised something like this would happen.

"It's horrible, it's a bad situation that these things happen here, I'm glad no one was injured," said Gonzales.

And according to the police report, this isn't the first time a Sunglass Hut has been targeted.

In it, the regional manager stated, “several Sunglass Hut stores have been burglarized during the past year ..."

"There's no way of knowing if it's a local individual or if the groups exist in Florida that travel up and down the I-95 corridor hitting these stores," said Mulligan.

He said they are still investigating, but he believes the sunglasses stolen were stolen for a specific reason.

"Many times they will hit a particular store given what is needed in the black market," said Mulligan.

The report says the burglars were in and out of the store  within seven minutes.
