JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two separate crimes with one connection ---- family members and neighbors say Luciano Brewer is a victim in both.
He also has several mug shots in the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office system for drug arrests.
On Tuesday, Brewer went into a Southside Burger King with a gunshot wound and later died.
In May, police say someone threw a molotov cocktail onto his west-side home.
JSO's report on the May 11 fire-bombing may tie the two crimes together.
Brewer's obituary says he also goes by the name Jon.
A man named Jon Brewer is named in JSO’s report for the molotov cocktail fire-bombing.
That report says brewer told police someone fire-bombed the house because of an ongoing argument over a girl between him and someone else.
That person's name is redacted in the report.
JSO did not say if an arrest was made in that case or if the fire and Brewer's death are connected.
In the police report, an officer does say he overheard Brewer and his mother talking shortly after the fire.
The report says Jon’s mom asked him if he was planning retaliation and she reminded her son she could have been killed.
Investigators say Jon did say to his mother that something should be done.
Almost four months after the fire Brewer turned up inside a Burger King as the victim of a shooting.
Action News Jax spoke exclusively with one of Jon's close relatives. They said they believe the cases are connected, but firmly believe Brewer did not retaliate.
Police are still looking for Brewer's killer.
