Exclusive surveillance video shows a man stealing a Jacksonville mother’s car right out of her driveway.

It happened late Tuesday night at the home on Bilken Drive East, not far from 103rd Street.

In the video, you can see the suspect first going through the white Toyota Corolla parked next to car he'd eventually steal, a dark Chevrolet HHR.

He then gets into the HHR. Family said he'd take a bag in there that had a spare key in it, and would disappear for a few minutes. When he comes back, he gets into the HHR and steals it.

“I was cramming for an exam,” said the victim, Brandi Wood. “I passed out with my book across my chest, and then I got shook awake by my sister yelling, 'The cops are here! Your car is gone!”

“We found out that somebody had broken into both mine and my mother's car and ended up stealing my car, and went and dumped all my stuff in a parking lot somewhere,” Wood said.

Wood is a nursing student who also works, so she depends on her car every day.

“I had to call into work [Wednesday night], so that's already money out of my pocket,” Wood said. “I’ve got a child, I've got to get back and forth to school, and a lot of things rely on that vehicle. And it may seem like just nothing, but it's my livelihood.”

Wood hopes broadcasting the video can help get her car back, and put the suspect behind bars.

“I'm hoping someone will see it and recognize him, and turn him in,” Wood said.
