Action News Jax investigates: Orange Park terror suspect linked to online attacks

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — It’s been four days since 20-year-old Joshua Goldberg was arrested at the Clay County home where he lives with his parents, and still, Action News is uncovering new online personas linked to the accused terrorist mastermind.

On his Twitter account "Moon Metropolis," we found nearly a dozen posts about Shaun King, a self-described liberal journalist for DailyKos.com and well-known supporter of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

In August, the conservative news website Breitbart.com published an article that claimed King is white instead of bi-racial, a report King has since denied.  That same day, in a blog post written by Moon Metropolis, the writer took credit for much of the information provided in the Breitbart story.

Action News Jax spoke to King by Skype Monday. He and his supporters argue the Moon Metropolis blog is evidence that Joshua Goldberg and writer Milo Yiannopoulos exchanged tweets and emails about King and his family in the weeks before the Britebart story was published.

“Joshua seemed to be one of the primary sources for that,” said King.

But Yiannopoulis calls that claim preposterous.

In another Breibart article published over the weekend, he confirms Goldberg was in touch with him about Shaun King, but insists the terror suspect was not the source of the story. Yiannopolous says Goldberg did not add to the research that he already obtained from another source, which is why he stopped responding to Goldberg's emails. He also calls the 20-year-old, "a prolific and successful troll."

Regardless of the accused terrorists possible role in the story, King tells Action News he is still bothered that Goldberg focused on him.

“As far as I know, I've never interacted with any of those different personalities that he had online.  He really didn't have any boundaries, and he was willing to put real people in danger. It’s a bit frightening to know that someone who lacks those boundaries is focusing on you.”

Action News Jax reached out to Milo Yiannopoulous, but have not received any additional comments.

Action News Jax reporter Amanda Warford attended elementary and middle school with Shaun King.

Goldberg is scheduled to be in Federal court on Tuesday. His Jacksonville-based attorney, Paul Shorstein, did not return our calls for comment. Shorstein is expected to represent Goldberg in court Tuesday.
