JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Parents from BridgePrep Academy Duval are frustrated. They've waited three years for school zone signage to go up, and nothing has been done.
Daniael Winston, a parent of a student at BridgePrep Academy, said, "I'm at the point where I'm really scared to see what's going to happen."
Since BridgePrep Academy opened its doors three years ago, Winston and another parent, Bobbie Carey, have been begging for school zone signs on Atlantic Blvd. and the adjacent side streets.
"Last year, the city came out and put up all those no parking signs up and down the school. If they can afford to do that and have the time to do that, why can they not put school signs up?" Carey asked.
They've contacted everyone they could think of, from Duval County Public Schools, to the City of Jacksonville, to the school itself and even FDOT, but they haven't gotten any straight answers or action.

"I don't understand what the barrier is, why people are so against us trying to get safety for our children, but that's what it seems to be coming to," explained Winston.
After years of frustration, Carey went as far as to donate slow children signs to the school, but she's still waiting for signs to be put up everywhere else.
"I just went out and bought the' slow children' (signs), but you see they only face one direction. Not everybody can see them, but that's what I did just to try to help. Trying to make people aware that there is a school here," Carey said.
We spoke to our law and safety expert, Dale Carson, who says under state law, the city would be responsible for requesting school signage from the Department of Transportation.
All Carey and Winston want is for the students to be safe.
"I would like to the city, somebody, anybody to please put up school signs," Carey said
Action News Jax reached out Thurssay evening to the city to see if it has made any requests for signage to DOT and is waiting for a response.
