An Action News Jax investigation is revealing which parts of Jacksonville account for the biggest number of parking tickets.

Those hotspots raked in $1.5 million last year.

“I work down here but I walk to work every day so I don’t have to deal with parking,” said Samantha Wai.

It's a problem that many people don't want to deal with.

"I had some time to try and figure out the parking situation," Wai said. "I kind of just gave up and started walking to work," said Wai.

She said that solution works for her, but not everyone has that option, forcing them to play the parking game.

Action News Jax went through thousands of lines of data and determined the most ticketed areas in Jacksonville. In total, the city raked in nearly $1.5 million last year, but a little more than $750,000 of ticket fines were not paid.

The top five most ticketed streets? They are in Downtown Jacksonville: Adams, Church, Bay, Forsyth and Julia.

Parking tickets are also high in and around local hospitals. Last year, more than 1,100 tickets were given out near Baptist Hospital in San Marco.

Hundreds of tickets were also issued at at St. Vincent’s Southside and UF Health Jacksonville.

The Avenues Mall was the worst, with over 1,000 tickets. The St. Johns Town Center and Regency Square Mall also ranked high on our list.
