JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — That’s a wrap to training camp 2026 for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they concluded back-to-back joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.
The reunion tour for Head Coach Liam Coen, a former offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, began on Tuesday with a physical and fast start type of a day for the Jags.
The team scored early on red zone drills on the offensive side of the ball. As for the defense, Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield told the media they were out-physicalled, saying in part:
“They were playing with their hair on fire, I’ll say that,” Mayfield said. “If this was a full game, I don’t think we would’ve come out on the winning side of it.”
Jaguars Defensive End Josh Hines-Allen stole the show, having one of his best days at camp with a multiple-sack day, including a strip sack, against Mayfield.
The Bucs quarterback was also picked off by Cornerback Buster Brown, and had the ball punched out by Linebacker Foye Oluokun.
By the end of team periods, Mayfield was 14 of 33. Jaguars Defensive End Travon Walker said this team loves playing with an edge.
“I feel like the physicality was definitely there for us today. That’s something that we pride ourselves on, being the most physical group on in the league in general and just whooping the man in front of us,” Walker said. “I feel like we just continuously keep taking steps in the right direction.”

Jags Quarterback Trevor Lawrence also got in on the physical action at Tuesday’s practice. On the Jaguars offense-vs.-Buccaneers-defense field, Lawrence got into a small scuffle trying to hold back Buccaneers linebacker Alex Anzalone. When asked about it, Center Robert Hainsey told Action Sports Jax Alivia Tassely:
“I saw him grab someone and lost my fricking mind. Me and Anton (Harrison) were like ‘dude get out of here. What are you doing?’ Hainsey said. ”But credit to him. That’s who he is. He loves his teammates, like the rest of us. It’s what it’s about. We are going to fight for each other no matter what.”

As for Day 2, it was a much quieter day. It involved only two team drill periods before the Jags and Bucs separated to their own fields to focus on the details of their team.
The Jaguars’ secondary continued the momentum from Day One, disrupting Mayfield once again in team drills.
On the injury front, Jaguars Wide Receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was in a non-contact penny today after Coen told the media he came down hard on his shoulder during Tuesday’s practice. The team decided to hold him out Wednesday to make sure he is ready to go against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the regular season on September 13.
