Air quality report details issues at Eureka Gardens

Action News Jax has obtained the results of air quality tests at the Eureka Gardens apartments and they detail serious issues.

For months, we have been investigating safety issues at the troubled federally subsidized apartment complex, and its owner, Global Ministries Foundation.

A 281-page air quality report shows of the 400 units at Eureka Gardens, 72 had visible mold growth. Three-hundred and seventy-two units had elevated moisture measurements.

There were also "visual indications of water damage and previous repairs."

The air samples were taken in November and December of last year.

Eureka scored high enough in its February inspection that it was allowed to keep its $6 million in federal funding, but local city leaders tell us they're skeptical the complex will ever meet the standards it should.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will meet with families living in Eureka Gardens to discuss the problems within the complex. HUD also released its February inspection report on the complex.
