PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — More than 60 animals discovered in a local home are being nursed back to health. Soon, some of those animals will get a second chance at a good life.
Friday was a busy day for Putnam County Animal Control. They held an adoption event not only for the animals they've had in the shelter but also for the dozens of animals that were rescued from a home in Putnam County.
As we walked in, Jennifer Attanasio was adopting one of those animals.
"She brought her over and I fell in love with her," Attanasio said.
She said she didn't think an animal that came from such bad conditions would be comfortable around people but she was wrong.

"I didn't expect any of them to be as friendly as they are and all of them are very friendly and welcoming to have people around them," Attanasio said.
Cindy Brown, the supervisor of animal control, said they only had cats from the hoarding case at the event because they were ready to be adopted. She said the dogs still need time to be socialized.
"They don't know what a leash is, they're scared, the noises scare them," Brown said.
Brown said usually in cases like these, rescue groups will adopt them and teach them social skills.
On Saturday, they'll have another day where animals can be adopted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Putnam County Animal Control said on Friday, three cats from the hoarding case were adopted and seven Chow mixes were taken by rescue organizations.
