JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three local law enforcement agencies are hunting for the same man believed to have robbed nearly a dozen local businesses.
Police say at one point he hit up to four businesses in one day.
The times of the crime vary from early morning, nights and even broad daylight.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the suspect showing how he covers his face with either a scarf or mask.
The Neptune Beach Police Department and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is helping JSO in the search. At least one of the robberies he’s accused of committing happened in St. Johns County.
Action News Jax spoke with a woman who was inside an Oceanway Dollar General Tuesday night when the suspect went in wielding a gun at the cashier.
“He was telling her hurry up, hurry up, hurry up. She’s like 'I’m trying I’m trying',” said Teresa.
Action News Jax is not using her last name because the case has not been solved.
Teresa managed to get out of the store and warned others.
“I told everyone in that parking lot that that place is getting robbed,” said Teresa.
The robberies include two on Dec. 15 at a RaceTrack on Atlantic Boulevard around 4 a.m. then just before 2 p.m. the same day at the CVS on Town Center Parkway.
Then on Sunday Dec. 18, four locations reported being robbed including two Walgreens stores, Otaki Japanese Steakhouse and a Speedway.
On Tuesday, Dec. 20 a CVS and a Dunkin' Donuts were also hit.
The latest incident occurred at a Dollar General on New Berlin Road.
“It was extremely scary. I got a new grandbaby and I want my grandbaby to see me, you know,” said Teresa.
Police are describing the suspect as a black man, around 6 feet tall, weighing between 160 and 200 pounds.
Investigators believe he may be driving an early 2000s white Toyota Corolla.
“When he took off out the store and took off running out the sidewalk I seen him get in the car with somebody else,” said Teresa.
Teresa fears his crimes could escalate if he's not caught.
"We're just very grateful to walk away," said Teresa.
