Authorities in St. Johns County are warning people about a possible scam involving car window repairs.
According to a police scam alert, three people in Palencia approached a Village Pediatrics employee, offering to repair her car windshield.
Police say the woman declined, but later found damage to her windshield she knew wasn’t there before.
One business didn’t want to be named but told us they were also solicited with the offer.
The three people told her they had been doing window repairs at Burger King. Investigators said Burger King told them that wasn’t true.
“We shouldn’t have to worry about that, I think it’s terrible,” said Susan McVeen, St. Johns County resident.
Police say this is the third time it’s recently happened in the same neighborhood.
Two years ago, Action News Jax investigated two men who claimed to be insurance inspectors.
They would approach homeowners and tell them their windows weren’t up to code.
