There is backlash in St. Augustine over plans for a new bed and breakfast.

It would be built on a lot on the corner of Cordova and Bridge Streets near some of the city's oldest homes.

Neighbors want the area to remain strictly residential.

Action News learned the tires of some contractors have been slashed as the debate goes on.

“Our zoning doesn't allow for rentals, doesn't allow taverns and the intended use of the district is residential we have all invested a lot of money into our houses,” said Lee Geanules, a neighbor.

Developers say they'll take their plans to the historic architecture review board next week.

After that it goes to the City Commission for zoning approval.
