JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville sheriff’s Sgt. James White was monitoring traffic on the Mathews Bridge recently when he said a car blew passed him going 120 miles per hour.
The sheriff’s office shared video on social media Thursday of White’s exchange with the driver after he pulled him over.
The officer approached the car and asked the driver to put his window down and he complied. As the driver came into view, Williams was clearly surprised and not by how fast the man was driving.
“Is that a big roach in your mouth?” Williams asked.
“We don’t got roaches,” the driver responded as the cigar dangled between his lips.
It’s highly unlikely that cigar was filled with tobacco.
“It’s a big blunt in your mouth!” Williams said. “... I paced you at 120 miles a hour up the bridge where the speed limit is 45.”
Williams ordered the driver out of the car and placed him in handcuffs. The driver asked why.
“Super speeder,” Williams replied. “You can go to jail for speeding as fast as you were going.”
The driver will also face a charge of DUI. “Remember, D.U.I. doesn’t always mean drinking,” the sheriff’s office social media post states.
