FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — Two restaurants that were on the Action News Jax Restaurant Report within the last few weeks were cited by health inspectors again.

Brett’s Waterway Café in Fernandina Beach was on the Restaurant Report two weeks ago. This week a health inspector noted nine live roaches, dead roaches and temperature issues with reach-in coolers. The inspector noted the cooler couldn’t store food in it. The restaurant was temporarily shut down and reopened the next day after a follow-up inspection.

Horizons in Fernandina Beach was on the Restaurant Report three weeks ago. During a follow-up visit, investigators once again saw pest control issues. A health inspection document shows an inspector found eight live roaches, dead roaches and raw chicken that wasn’t properly separated in the freezer. The restaurant was temporarily shut down.

At Vinny’s New York Style Pizza in St. Augustine, health inspectors issued a stop sale on pizza because of temperature issues, an employee touched ready-to-eat food with bare hands and an employee didn’t wash his hands after using the restroom.
