ST. MARYS, Ga. — 10:31 AM: The lockdown has been lifted. Camden County schools shared the following message on social media:
Law enforcement has given the all-clear, and the precautionary lockdown at Mary Lee Clark Elementary School has been lifted.
Students who remain at St. Marys Middle School will be transported by bus to Mary Lee Clark Elementary School. Families of all other students may now safely bring their students to Mary Lee Clark Elementary School.
Mary Lee Clark Elementary School will resume normal school operations for the remainder of the day.
We understand that some families may choose to keep their students home today. Any absences related to today’s incident will be excused.
Thank you to our families for your patience and cooperation this morning and to our law enforcement partners for their swift response and continued commitment to the safety of our students and staff.

Mary Lee Clark Elementary School was placed on a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning after two people ran from a traffic stop nearby. One person has been arrested and Camden County Sheriff’s Office deputies are actively working to locate two other suspects.
The incident began when a deputy conducted a traffic stop near Colerain Road and St. Marys Road involving three individuals. Sheriff’s office officials said there is no indication of a direct threat to the school and the lockdown was established out of caution while law enforcement activity continues in the area.
After two of the three vehicle occupants fled during the traffic stop, deputies located and arrested one person. Law enforcement officers are searching the surrounding area for the remaining two individuals.
Because of the police activity, school buses are being temporarily rerouted to St. Marys Middle School. Authorities are asking parents and community members to avoid the area and not approach the Mary Lee Clark Elementary School campus until the area has been cleared.
