ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A 7-year-old girl was burned Sunday night by flammable liquid inside a pumpkin, the St. Johns County Fire Rescue said.

The incident happened at a home on Marsh Island Circle. Investigators were at the home for several hours.

The girl's parents were en route to Flagler Hospital when they stopped at SJCFR Fire Rescue Station 12.

Paramedics assessed the burns and determined they were life threatening, the SJCFR said. The girl was then airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

The incident is being investigated by the local and state fire marshal.

It was originally reported that the girl was 6 years old, but a police report obtained by Action News Jax Monday said that the victim is 7 years old.
