GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A 90-day period to appeal Federal Emergency Management Agency flood zone changes requiring property owners to get insurance began Thursday.
Clay County officials announced the opening of the appeals period from August 20 to November 18, telling residents they can research any new flood zone designations for their property on the county’s website.
FEMA is updating Clay County’s flood insurance rate maps, which determine flood risk and may affect whether some residents are required to carry flood insurance, county officials said.
