ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A local sailor is in custody after Clay County deputies say he shot and killed his roommates, who also served in the Navy with him.

Here are the latest updates:

3:12 P.M.: The Clay County Sheriff’s Office released more details about the shooting that killed two women that happened late Wednesday in Oakleaf Plantation.

CCSO said the 911 call reporting the shooting came in around 11:20 p.m.

When investigators arrived, they found “two deceased females in the front yard” who had been shot multiple times, CCSO said in a news release.

CCSO identified the victims as 20-year-old Jordyn Forrestier and 21-year-old Noely Makenda. The women and Lomax lived at the home as roommates and served together in the Navy.

Lomax’s wife stopped by the home to visit him and CCSO said she began arguing with Forrestier and Makenda. This escalated to a physical fight in the front yard, CCSO said.

“At that time, Lomax retrieved his handgun and fired approximately 30 rounds, shooting both victims several times,” CCSO said.

Lomax’s wife then called 911. When CCSO arrived, she was taken into custody, interviewed by detectives, and then released.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call CCSO at (904) 264-6512 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app, referring to case number 2025028638.

1:46 P.M.: CCSO released the arrest report for the shooting.

In that report, the suspect is identified as 22-year-old Taylor Lomax.

Action News Jax has confirmed that Lomax is a local Navy sailor.

We received tips suggesting both victims and Lomax are Navy sailors assigned to two Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons at NAS JAX.

A base spokesperson was able to confirm Lomax is a Navy sailor but told us as far as the victims go, “out of respect for the investigation, we are not releasing personal information.”

Lomax faces two counts of second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
