Clay School Board approves reopening plans for schools amid COVID-19 pandemic

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATED 8:30PM: Clay County School Board has approved the proposed reopening plan pushing back the school start date to Aug. 25.

ORIGINAL STORY 3PM: The Clay County School Board will meet twice on Tuesday, beginning with a 3 p.m. workshop, and Special Meeting to follow at 5 p.m.

All brick and mortar schools would be open for the students who choose to attend.

The Board is expected to discuss not only budgeting in the meeting at 5 p.m., but vote on the superintendent’s proposed reopening plans.

If the plans are passed by the district schools would begin on Aug 25.

All students, K-12, and their families have the option of online virtual learning through clay virtual academy – and one clay online.

Grades 7-12 would have the option of going hybrid.
