CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A fire broke out at a Grumpy’s Restaurant in Middleburg on Wednesday night.

Clay County Fire Rescue responded around 8 p.m. to the restaurant at 1805 Blanding Boulevard.

Less than an hour later, the fire was under control and crews began working to clear the smoke out of the building. According to CCFR, there were no injuries.

Deleon said there was some damage and it will be a significant loss but everyone is safe and the fire did not impact any other businesses.

Action News Jax spoke with Daniel Deleon, the CEO and President of Grumpy’s Restaurant. He told us there was nobody in the building when the restaurant caught fire.

The Acting Fire Chief told Action News Jax the fire started in the back of the restaurant by the kitchen and it made its way forward. There is major fire damage on the inside and the restaurant will be closed for a while, according to the Fire Chief.
