CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Clay County Fire Rescue said around 50 patients at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Middleburg were evacuated after a mattress caught fire.
Investigators said a patient was smoking in the bed and it caught fire.
The fire department said the fire has been extinguished, and the mattress has been removed.
Firefighters cleared out the smoke.
