JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Cox Media Group, the parent company of Action News Jax and radio partner 104.5 WOKV, is working to help families fighting childhood cancer.
The 12th annual Care-A-Thon began on Friday to raise money. Volunteers manned the phones at the CMG studios on the Southside to take donations for the Child Cancer Fund. Every dollar raised stays with families in Jacksonville.
“$100 donation, that does things like provide gas cards for families to get to treatment and food cards,” said Carla Montgomery, Executive Director of the Child Cancer Fund.

Saige told us how much fun she had at Friday’s event. “I got to do makeup. I got to eat snacks, color, and I got to talk on the microphone,” said Saige.

“It’s making me feel like I’m giving back to a group that gave so much to me. I am here today at 30 years old, so I’ve been in remission now for about 13 years,” said Patti.
The Care-a-Thon ends at 6 p.m. on Friday. It starts again on Saturday from 6 a.m. - 1 p.m.
If you wish to donate, call 855-916-9500 or text CMG to 707070.
