Victory Casino Cruises passed a Coast Guard inspection on Thursday after a previous inspection found possible issues. The company plans to resume operations on Friday evening.

A Coast Guard commander said she had seven inspectors on the ship Thursday, which she says is highly unusual.

The inspectors examined the ship from stem to stern, looking at things like navigation equipment, crew training and emergency drills such as man overboard and fire dampeners, which previously failed inspection.

“It's a mechanical part of the fire protection system that cuts off ventilation to certain areas of the vessel to help minimize the spread of fire or smoke in an actual event,” Coast Guard Cmdr. Alisa Praskovich said.

The company will also undergo inspections roughly every 3 months until the Coast Guard believes they it go back to yearly inspections.

Victory Casino Cruises estimates that between 800 and 1,000 people had cruises booked this week that were canceled as a result of the inspection.
